Part of the appeal for me was learning how to use all the different effects without having to buy a million pedals. I’m able to get some nice cleaner lead voices, crunchy old school death metal, super compressed high attack chugga chugga stuff, all using just what came with the base version.
I only have experience with Bias FX2, using high gain metal tones. I also plan to use whichever software I go for for bass tones, as well. I don't mind spending extra for the upgrade to get the Mesa stuff down the road, if the high gain packs are worth it, and having official emulations of some classic amps seems useful as someone who is knew to recording to find and emulate the tones I want.īias seems to be the more expensive option for me right away, but I know it's fairly well liked.
